When Covid lockdown forced the University of Newcastle to switch its Halloween entertainment to online events only, Phantasia pitched an online “escape-room” style event with live interactive performers in zoom rooms guiding players to solve puzzles to continue through the horror-themed story to its final conclusion.
Within the four-week lead-time, the Phantasia team took the project from concept through scripting, production and programming to delivery on-time utilising no-contact collaboration, with film sets constructed in the actor’s homes to limit exposure.
The product exceeded expectations, with 20% more engagement than anticipated, including participation from students nationally and internationally.
Following the event, live footage was cut to create a playable recorded version for those who missed out or were unable to complete the live version in time. We hope you enjoy it!
